The future of office design is in safe hands: AKT II’s Laura Hannigan and her team ‘88MpH’ have won the BCO NextGen Workplace Competition 2017!
88MpH is a collaborative team comprising Laura Hannigan (AKT II), Annabel Koeck (Grimshaw Architects), Jennifer Barnes (Future City) and Amelia Maxwell (Lendlease). Their winning design beat out over 30 submissions from the UK and overseas, and they now have the opportunity to present their proposal to the BCO next year.
Competitors were asked to consider “the office of 2035: what it will look like and how it will support the way we will work”. The competition sought forward-thinking and innovative responses, challenging the conventionality of today’s workplaces and anticipating future needs.
During the competition period, teams were invited to participate in ‘hackathons’ led by senior industry figures, and were offered the opportunity to receive one-on-one mentoring and advice from an expert in the field.
