Reopening of the busiest railway station outside of London

Birmingham New Street

After a redevelopment of 5 years and £ 600 million, Birmingham New Street Station officially reopened on Sunday 20th. We are proud to have helped create the new atrium that now fills the station with natural light, and the futuristic façade that replaces the old concrete exterior.

The extended construction time was caused by the need to keep the station running as normal throughout the whole process, and now it will be able to handle up to 300,000 passengers a day, as trains continue to leave every 37 seconds.

Upstairs, a new shopping centre is to open on Thursday 24th, creating a huge retail space that hopes to draw people into Birmingham from the wider area.
