Community and beyond.

At AKT II, we believe engineering should make a positive difference – not just through our projects, but also in the way we support people, communities and the planet. Our social responsibility spans charity work, education, sustainability and innovation, with our staff leading many of these initiatives.

Giving back to the community.

Our Charity Committee organises regular fundraising activities – from sports days and pub quizzes to bake sales and raffles – helping to support a number of charities selected each year. Many of our people also volunteer their time, cycling, dragon boating and playing football for sponsorship, or providing pro-bono engineering for organisations such as Global Generation.

Inspiring the next generation.

Through AKT.Educate, we share our love for engineering with school children, encouraging them to consider careers in shaping the built environment. Our engineers visit classrooms, host studio workshops and volunteer as STEM Ambassadors, bringing science, technology, engineering and mathematics to life. We also contribute to London’s Open House Festival, where our team helps young people explore design and engineering through family-focused events.

A sustainable future.

As a certified B Corp, we are committed to sustainable practice. Our engineers embed low-carbon design into projects worldwide, while our in-house software ecosystem Re.AKT equips us with data-driven tools to measure and reduce environmental impact. With Carbon.AKT, we help design teams cut embodied carbon and explore innovative solutions such as Earth Friendly Concrete, first applied in the UK at Canada Water.

Driving innovation.

As a foundation-owned company within the Tyréns Group, we reinvest profits into people, research and innovation. This keeps us at the forefront of sustainable design, climate adaptation, computation and AI. Our work ranges from structural fire design for mass-timber buildings, enabling greater use of low-carbon materials, to vibration serviceability and performance-based design methods that reduce material use and environmental impact.

We also partner with leading academic institutions worldwide, including Harvard, to stay technically excellent, design-led and prepared to shape a more resilient, responsible future.
