6 St George’s Terrace

We supported Barr Gazetas Architects on the refurbishment and extension of this turn of the century terrace residential property which overlooks Primrose Hill Park. The client wished to achieve a modern intervention into the existing building whilst maintaining some of the original features.

The initial scheme involved opening up the internal areas by the removal of partition walls and parts of floor plates and the construction of a high-tech rear extension using an exposed steel structure supporting glazed walls and roof. The listing of the building by English Heritage prior to the planning permission being granted required alterations to the design which resulted in few modifications and the greater use of traditional materials. It can be seen in these photographs that even with these restrictions the final product is a spectacular conversion of this sensitive site.
