Orange House of the Future

Orange built this house to the north of London as a showcase for the use of technology. There is a long tradition of glass leading innovation in architecture and construction, and here an all glass conservatory matches the new interiors and plethora of photovoltaic cells as a symbol of modernity.

We became involved from two directions. Architects Urban Salon came to us to work out how to build an all glass conservatory, with glass fins, beams and glue, while the main contractor asked Vision Systems, for whom we are consultants, to build it. Consequently we took an instrumental role in developing the architect’s idea to ensure it would be achievable with the available technology, resulting in a pristine and clear glass structure.

Modern residential unit fuelled by technology, with a fully glazed conservatory supported by glass fins
